Sucked into a time hole
For its tenth birthday, Google has brought out Google 2001, which searches their earliest available database, from January 2001.
Try searching for Barack Obama: you’ll get his Illinois Senate page, followed by the Saguaro Seminar at the Kennedy School.
On the other hand, try Sarah Palin. Nothing much interesting; some genealogy pages, mostly. Now try it in quotes. That’s right: as of 2001, Google knew absolutely nothing about the woman who is being considered for the position of Vice President of the United States.
