Love Song for the Primaries
Yet another “Tuesday,” and yet another awkward slow-dance for Clinton/Obama as they attempt to cattle-prod the proletariat into their respective corrals with empathetic splutter and blue-collar bravado.
It’s times like these that we need weak-kneed, synthesizer-driven indie-pop to rescue us from the depths of NYT-induced apathy. Thankfully, we’ve got These United States to reinvigorate our splintering faith in the Union with “First Sight,” which made the rounds a while back. It deserves resurrection, if only because one can imagine it as a post-convention ode to Democratic Reunification—that is, if one tries hard enough.
