It's Complicated with Evolution
Apparently scientists have proven that evolution pushes animals toward increasing complexity. It’s only a matter of time before the crustaceans in the study acquire peanut allergies, ADD, dating-ambiguous situations, and Blackberries.

So I started thinking that it would be interesting to consider the role of entropy in the question of increasing complexity in evolution but then I started looking more closely at the definitions and descriptions of entropy and now my head hurts. Is this why you post these little nuggets? To make us think? Hmmm… how clever of you!
My quick-linking to interesting articles is a dual conspiracy to force the reader to speculate and to ensure that I merely allude to rather than expound upon my own crackpot theories. I am an arm-chair evolutionary biologist at best, but I think entropy is not irrelevant to these findings, or at least it certainly wouldn’t be if all biology functioned as a piece of literature (and I am increasingly convinced that it might).
