Juxtapositions

From a military survey on their new “Meals Ready to Eat” program, published in Harper’s:

The vanilla pudding is so good I ripped it open, licked the inside, and rolled around on top of it like a dog.

Am I supposed to add water to the peanut butter dessert?

Shitcan the meat chunk and give out more granola.

I don’t personally like the cheese, but I can trade with it.

Should add Copenhagen dip.

Why in God’s name would you put a vegetable in a MRE?

It sounded like a flatulence symphony in my tent all night.

The way it turned my mouth blue flooded my mind with childhood memories, and for a moment I was at peace.

From various mailing lists, on the HUDS dilemma:

How about quesadillas with, I don’t know, CHEESE?

Also, since when has tofu, melted cheese, and pesto sauce been an appetizing idea?

Lunch today was good. Give credit where credit is due.

Some people have stomachs of steel, no dietary restrictions, and no taste buds. The rest of the student body is forced to subsidize their all-you-can-eat buffet of dangerous culinary experiments and bland overcooked pasta.

I feel that HUDS shouldn’t set a certain precedent if they’re not willing to uphold it. If HUDS had established a lower standard from the outset, nothing would have changed and no one would be unhappy right now.

and i agree that it’s nice to connect with “lesser colleges” haha, but harvard’s dining actually gets a much worse grade than most of those colleges.

What irritates me most about the dining halls is the stupid iceberg lettuce “HUDS mix” that they use.

Wait, I think [redacted]’s email to [an open list] sums up the feelings of
many undergraduates (or at least many [of us]) quite well: pissed.

Why are they alternating organic and real marinara?

Ah Garrett, I think the people in charge of Newstalk wouldn’t be very happy if they knew we were providing fodder for your blog. (Did any of this not come from Newstalk?)
